Alan K Jones BVetMed MRCVS. Alan is the owner of the practice, qualifying from the Royal Veterinary College London many years ago has worked with all types of animals in the past. However, acquiring a love of birds from his grandfather, and progressing through the Ornithological Society at School, he moved gradually towards avian medicine, and now has well over twenty years’ experience in the treatment of patients with feathers. Well known in the bird world, Alan has served on the Council, and has been Chairman of, The Parrot Society UK. A former Chairman of the European Committee of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, he also served a term on the AAV Board of Directors. Currently he is a member of BVZS and BSAVA, and regularly attends seminars and conferences organised by all these groups, as well as presenting papers at meetings of these associations. A regular writer on bird topics in popular publications such as Cage & Aviary Birds, Birdkeeper Magazine, Bird Keeping World, and the Parrot Society magazine, he also contributes articles in Avian Veterinary textbooks and journals. He frequently gives talks to bird clubs and local veterinary groups up and down the country on the subject of avian medicine. Over the years Alan has kept, & still has many dogs, cats, parrots and fish. His pass times are walking, gardening, writing and photography. He is a vet who is committed to providing clients and patients with understanding and compassionate treatment based on experience and common sense, and passing on the knowledge acquired over many years of work in his chosen field.
